I started to love computers when I was about 6 years old and my dad bought an Amstrad with 16 colors. I was mesmerized with video games and wanted to learn more about how to make my own. Later, I discovered books on programming at the library (that was before the internet) and started coding in QBasic without any help.
A little bit later, I started a video game project with two of my friends. It was an adventure game like King Quest but using the first-person view, like Myst. We never finish it and we have lost the original files, but I knew this was what I wanted to do in life.
I created my own company during my college so I don't have to work at McDonald's. Over the years, I had around 100 clients for which I provided with technical support and home technical troubleshooting. It was awesome to pay the bills but I was missing the programming part.
During my studies in software engineering at the ÉTS, I worked for the city of Vaudreuil-Dorion and for Bell. After that, I joined Aqua Data as a software developer for 6 years followed by a move to Stingray. In 2018, I became Team Lead at Stingray where I currently lead a team of 6 to 8 developers.

That's where things got real. We didn't just focus on the code or even design, we learn everything about the process of making good software. Design, technology, security, QA, etc.
Interesting fact: In my final project that was to create a complete game using Panda3D engine in 13 weeks with all the needed documentation, I got an A+. The university then invited me to show my work in a conference at the Arcadia festival (Big video game festival) in Montreal a couple of months later.

Even if I started coding at 13 years old at home with books in QBasic, I really started to learn how to design and code for real at Gérald-Godin. That's when I knew I was in the right field and that it was what I want to do for the rest of my life. At the time, we learned C++, Visual Basic, a little bit of Java, SQL and html/javascript. It was an awesome 3 years of my life.

I decided that I wanted to work remote full time, and it was not possible with my previous employer. I also wanted my work to be fun AND to work towards a better future, so I joined the leader in EV charging in Canada and since then, I'm working on the back-end team called CPO (Charge Point Operator). We are using the latest .NET and Azure technologies while maintaining legacy stack.

I started as a developer on the music player for businesses. I then moved to the management web apps. I discovered along the way that I LOVED APIs and everything related to them. As a musician myself, that was my dream job and after a couple of years, I got offered a lead position.

I worked in C++ and C# on large desktop applications to manage the sewer and aqueduct networks. That includes a lot of processing and simulation. We had to do a lot of integration to other system (import/export) and had to work with GIS system like ESRI. It was a lot of fun!
